We’re a gluttonous generation. Or maybe we’re just a self-centered one.
Now, firstly, I am not Nun. I covet, I desire, I want. I'm human.
…… well, c’mon, how else was I going to get a PS3?
It would be an exaggeration to say I was raised poor.
I wasn't, but I never have had unlimited money or time to spare.
And it's no exaggeration to say there were not some Christmas with no presents or stretches where there was that tense dry feeling in the air when the bills would show up.
I was raised to be frugal and logical, and getting things required effort and thought.
We’re a generation with more right on our plates than we’ve ever been served, but we’re picking out the interesting nuggets, discarding the rest, and lamenting at being underfed.
There was a time when you took a picture, you'd have to wait days or even months to see your result. Now we have instant pictures to be viewed, tweaked, or deleted within seconds of taking..
There was a time when a question was asked, you have to ask others, or go to a library, or places, to find that answer. Now, ‘just Google it’ is part of every day speech.

You will certainly get more answers than necessary for the most basic query.
There was that time when a song or movie was new, you'd have to wait months to buy the album or tape. Now, it's just that easy to download anything you want.
What has happened to expectation, anticipation, surprise, excitement and then gratification?
What has happened to expectation, anticipation, surprise, excitement and then gratification?
This primary mindset is the continual demise of any motivated future generations, and frankly the chief decay of America. We expect things cheaper, faster, and instantaneously with little endeavor. Patience and moderation are now being smothered with the new norm; you want things to be up to date and enhanced. Treating yourself fine and getting what desire isn’t a bad thing, you need these things to function and be happy. Being happy is important and you are already overworked, my good consumer, so make it easy on yourself. So, go for that cheap music, cheap tv, air conditioning. Your goal is to make more time for yourself to enjoy so you make make more money to buy these happy products.
Life is good. Tawdry, but good.
Goals are points to be set to reach/achieve and be rewarded at or just to be fulfilled with reaching.
As my friend was initially observing, don’t we seem to be loosing our ‘anticipation’ with the little things in life? Are we even spending more time complaining about things we should live with, as if someone will invent something low-cost to stop the sun from being so hot?
Can’t we take time to get excited, and ENJOY those things in life?
There are some things money can’t buy, and for everything else there is human sensation.
So, I hate to skeedaddle backwards into that Mother Superior mode, but people;
~If you are always expecting FREE everything, you will get what you pay for.
Cheap and cheaper.
~Be frugal but don’t be cheap, be reserved but don’t pass by the moments you can never purchase.
~’Researching’ and ‘Googling it’ are not the same thing.
~Make it count, make it last, make it worth it
~You cannot buy a sunrise, sunset, or quality time. There are ways to partially pay to get there, but those are usually just the ticket. A ticket gets you there, it's usually not the whole adventure.
~Cheap food is the ultimate demise of the American lifestyle. I know it’s hard, but I cook every day. You will learn to labour and love and savour.
~Look forward to things.
~Complain and bemoan, but remember; you cannot stop the cold, the hot, the seasons, or those nasty cicadas from doing their strident mating songs. So get off your ass and get a sweater, remove clothes, make a calendar and mark the days off until your favourite season arrives, or get earplugs.
